Police and fire responded to the pedestrian-involved crash in the area 332 Central Street around 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25, Foxborough Police said on Facebook

Upon arrival, first responders found the boy had been hit by a passing vehicle. The boy was taken Hasbro Children's Hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

Initial investigation suggested the boy, who was visting family, was hit while crossing the street to play with other kids in the neighborhood. There are no crosswalks on the road and speed was also determined to not be a factor, police said.

The driver, who was uninjured, remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators. The crash is under investigation.
